The Room

[In Verse 3]

Speak in your native tongue

Don’t get lost in translation

Teach me your pretty words

Please don’t contradict them

I won’t get uncomfortable

When it starts to get vulnerable

This entire song is based on a situationship I was in. His native language wasn’t English and his language fascinated me, it’s gorgeous. When he was speaking to me, sometimes he would stumble to find his words and I could tell he was trying to translate things in his head. To me his native language is much prettier than English and I wanted to learn it. He said sweet things to me and I always thought to myself say it and mean it in your actions, don’t do the opposite. It was an intense relationship and he was everything to me at the time, so I wasn’t afraid to just lay my heart out there. The Room is pure storytelling at its core and that’s how I’d like the listener to hear it.
