Yearning

[Verse 2]

Need you like my lungs need air

Without you I ain’t breathing

What is life without you here?

Cause you’re the only reason

Submerge me in your love

Don’t stop until I drown

Hide me in your arms

Never let me be found

Love me deeper promise

you’ll never leave

Yearning is a very dramatic song, from the head-to falsetto vocals, the enunciation of words and most importantly the lyrics. I wanted to exaggerate and really express how I was feeling about my current love life. Wanting to be loved and admired so much it almost feels like an obsession. Although the production is very upbeat and it feels like a dance party, the song can also sound very eerie at times revealing that thin line between love, lust and obsession.

“Submerge me in your love..” meaning I want to feel that you’re deeply infatuated with me. Pull me in and show me how much you care.

“Don’t stop until I drown..” meaning I don’t want to be away from you. Also written in the sense of “til death do us part.” I don’t want to love anyone else but you so if I can’t have you I’d rather not live.

“Hide me in your arms, never let me be found..” meaning exactly what it says. Wanting to be touched, held, loved so deeply, all of my attention is given here and nothing else in the world matters.

Love in itself, like anything else is a dangerous gamble. It can be a bit unhealthy as well if one requires too much. My current partner is the complete opposite of everything that I crave in these lyrics so writing “Yearning” really helped me to express how I was feeling and also allowed me to reflect on some of the toxic things that requires me to improve on personally.
