ALLOW ME TO REINTRODUCE MYSELF, MY NAME IS—Christian Carter-Ross. I am a native of Winston-Salem, North Carolina. I am also a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where I studied and fell in love with photography. Over the years, that love for the arts ignited a passion to write about the arts also, including music. Music is deeply rooted in my family tree; Some of us have played instruments or made beats, some of us have performed in collectives but nearly all of us possess an immeasurable amount of music in our homes. It’s an appreciated unwritten right of passage. I’ve found solace in a few of those spaces— collecting led to curating playlists, curating playlists led to the purchase of turntables and witnessing how lyrics can capture a live audience inspired me to write music. From a young age, my mother made it a mission to immerse my conscious in the world of R&B. My childhood memory bank functions more like a soundtrack, as she would hug the corners of our home with soulful sounds from the likes of Earth, Wind & Fire, The SOS Band, Loose Ends, Prince or Mary J Blige. I feel that I owe it to her to share that passion and respect for music with like-minds out in the world..

The Melodic Note is my effortful contribution to the R&B conversation; a space where music can be discussed without drama for clicks. A platform free of advertising dollars. A community inspired by musicianship and fueled by love. To uplift what’s been built and what’s to come. My goal is to introduce everyone to something or someone new, allowing that to shift their perspective on what R&B sounds like and pushing the genre forward. I’ve assembled this proverbial table for all the movers and shakers including artists (especially independent artists), A&R’s, DJ’s, writers and producers, and anyone that wants R&B to shine as bright as possible. This is a place where all voices can be authentically represented.

Welcome home.
